Liquid(e) – Handel(n) was active where retail as part of the neighborhood has its space, as a place for shopping and communication. The artists engaged with the store’s product range and used it as a starting point for their actions. Terms that characterize both artistic work and work in shops, such as atmosphere, personality, or sustainability, were explored by the shop owners and performance artists and ultimately brought into discussion as a shared attitude.
By involving the neighborhood and the social structures in the participating residential areas, we want to have a sustainable impact and bring together various stakeholders. We are shaped by our social and human contacts. The social fractures that have emerged during the pandemic need to be addressed through artistic, “nurturing” activities, in order to strengthen the heavily affected arts and culture sector and the struggling retail trade in a joint, synergistic effort.
Saturday, July 12: Tours of the shops in Nippes at 11:00 and 15:00. Meeting point: Baudriplatz. Conversation and encounter format at 18:00 in the courtyard of the Bürgerzentrum Turmstraße, Turmstraße 3-5, 50733 Cologne.
Sunday, July 13: 19:00 Open Source Performance at Baudriplatz.
